Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild in Kennesaw: What to Know First

We provide independent Gelco chimney liner and rebuild service in Kennesaw, with most Gelco liner replacements and partial rebuilds completed in one to two days after inspection. Every job starts with a written price, camera documentation down the flue, and no work until you have both in hand. If you own a Gelco stainless or flexible liner system and you’re seeing rust runoff at the cleanout, draft problems, or brick spalling above the roofline, call (678) 535-2204. Corrine Halstead and our crew have worked on Gelco units throughout Kennesaw, including the older colonials near Kennesaw Mountain where freeze-thaw cycles hit liners harder than the manufacturer specs account for.

How Gelco Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Gelco Stainless Pro-Series: weld-seam corrosion at the flex-to-rigid transition. The Pro-Series uses a lap-weld joint where the flexible liner meets the rigid starter section. In Kennesaw’s clay-heavy soil zone, exterior chimney moisture wicks upward through porous brick, concentrates at that weld seam, and opens a pinhole leak that shows up as rust streaks in the firebox before the owner smells anything. We cut back to sound metal, transition with a DuraFlex or Gelco OEM coupler rated for the full flue temperature, and seal the exterior entry point.
  • Gelco Flexible 316Ti: titanium stabilization depletion in high-condensation flues. The 316Ti alloy resists acid attack well until it’s asked to handle a flue that runs below 250°F for long stretches, common with today’s EPA stoves in Kennesaw’s mild shoulder seasons. The titanium doesn’t “burn off” - the chromium-titanium matrix simply stops self-healing. We find this with a borescope at the first horizontal foot. Fix is a replacement with thicker-wall 316L or a properly sized insulated wrap if the appliance allows it.
  • Gelco Top-Lock rain cap and collar: galvanic separation at the stainless-to-carbon interface. The Top-Lock uses a carbon-steel clamp ring with a stainless cap. After eight to ten Kennesaw summers, the interface swells and the cap loosens just enough to let driven rain enter. Water runs the flue, saturates the liner insulation, and the next heating cycle steams it into the surrounding masonry. We replace with a full stainless cap or a Famco equivalent, and we check the flue gas path for chloride stress cracking while we’re there.
  • Gelco Oval-to-Round adapter: creosote bridging in the offset section. The adapter works fine when the flue runs hot. In Kennesaw, where many Gelco systems serve supplemental fireplaces that burn weekends only, Class II and III creosote bridges across the oval’s minor axis. That restricts draft, causes smoke rollback on startup, and accelerates corrosion underneath the deposit. We pull the adapter, mechanically clean to bare metal, and either reinstall with a smoother transition or upsize if the masonry allows.
  • Gelco poured refractory surround: crack propagation from the smoke chamber throat. Some Gelco liner jobs from the 2000s included a poured refractory mix to smooth the smoke chamber. That material has a different expansion coefficient than the surrounding brick. After enough Kennesaw freeze cycles, it cracks vertically, drops fragments onto the liner, and abrades through the wall. We remove the loose refractory, inspect the liner with a camera, and either patch with HeatShield Cerfractory Foam or rebuild the smoke chamber in firebrick if the damage is deep.

Our Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Process

Our Gelco Chimney Liner & Rebuild Process
  1. 1
Call and schedule. A live person answers. We book a Level 2 inspection with camera, not a “sweep and peek.”
  2. 2
Inspection and documentation. Our tech runs a camera the full flue length, records the liner condition, and notes any Gelco-specific part numbers visible at the top or cleanout. You get the stills and a written scope before we leave.
  3. 3
Parts decision. We quote Gelco OEM where it makes sense, DuraFlex or HeatShield where the geometry or timeline favors it, and we tell you which is which. No mystery sourcing.
  4. 4
Written price and warranty. Clause 1 of the Haven Standard: the price, scope, and 365-Day Done Right Promise are in writing before anyone schedules the work. We write it down before we ask you to decide anything.
  5. 5
The repair. Background-checked, uniformed crew, license number on the invoice, text when we’re en route. Liner jobs get a post-install draft test and a final camera run.
  6. 6
Documentation and close. Clause 4 of the Haven Standard requires a photo record on every job. You get the after photos, the test readings, and the warranty document. Archive goes back to 2009.

Why Kennesaw Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Kennesaw for Gelco Work

We’ve inspected and cleaned more than 38,000 chimneys since 2009, and we’ve learned that Gelco systems reward a tech who knows the product line. Corrine Halstead trained on this equipment in the field before she put her name on the company, and she still reviews every Gelco liner estimate that involves a rebuild decision. Our crews carry DuraFlex and HeatShield as backup when Gelco OEM doesn’t fit the timeline or the geometry, and we document which parts we used and why. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to every liner and rebuild job. If you’re comparing estimates, bring us any competitor’s written quote - our Free Second Opinion is exactly that, free and in writing.
